Fernando is a registered Spanish abogado and qualified barrister, licensed to practice in England and Wales. With more than twenty years of international experience, he is regarded as an expert in international tax and legal counsel. He has held positions with Deloitte, KPMG and Grant Thornton, among others, in New York (United States), Southampton (Great Britain), Gibraltar and Spain. Fernando has published articles and comments on Spanish tax and legal matters with the Tax Journal (Lexis Nexis) and the financial paper Expansion and has acted as an adviser to the Spanish Embassies in London and Dublin. He blogs regularly at www.taxprecision.com 

Fernando has learned over the years that in international counsel, balancing precision and creativity is the key success factor.

Manuel Gutierrez- Accounting Partner

Manuel is a registered economista and has held positions as accountant, tax and business advisor in technology companies and accounting firms. In addition to his experience as an economist with Spanish companies and organisations, Manuel has spent five years working with international companies in Spain.  

Manuel’s expertise relates to structuring businesses in Spain from an accounting and tax point of view and he also handles tax investigations. He speaks English and Spanish. 

Manuel's grandfather, drawing on a lifetime of experience and wisdom, used to say: ‘First things first’. Manuel strives to apply this motto to both his personal and professional life.

Jose Manuel Diaz – Legal Partner

José Manuel is a registered abogado with extensive experience in town planning and commercial law.   

He has worked both for Spanish government administrations and in the private sector and has a wealth of knowledge about consulting and educational projects.

 
Jose Manuel works with great equanimity and calmness under pressure and adheres to the maxim that ‘You do not manage time, you manage yourself’.

Mercedes Bellavista – International Assignments Partner

Mercedes has worked in the financial industry with Barclays Bank in Barcelona and was a senior executive with Cap Gemini and Matchmind, reporting directly to the South European partner of both consulting companies.  She speaks English, Spanish, Catalan, and French and has a good working knowledge of Italian and Portuguese. Mercedes has worked with Fernando del Canto in different managerial and assistant capacities in New York and Spain since 1992. Her international background and great understanding of multicultural needs has been an important asset to develop the International Assignment Services department in Konsilia

Responsibility and thoroughness are the two main characteristics of her personal management style. 

Julia del Canto – Assistant Director

Julia, who has a degree in finance and business administration, has held several positions in the air travel industry, and gained a reputation for excellent customer service management and financial control. She joined Konsilia from industry in 2008, and currently assists the managing partner to run the operational aspects of the firm. Julia speaks English, Spanish and French.

In addition to her expertise, Julia is always on call and has a natural ability to respond with diligence and calm to any matter requiring immediate attention.

Xavier Nova – Bussiness Development manager

Xavier has more than 15 years of international management experience in several organisations worldwide, including the United States, Spain and India. He has extensive experience in management, team building and communication and has worked in the foundation and charity sector for several years. He speaks English, Spanish and Catalan.

Xavier believes that cultivating clients’ trust, listening to their needs and working hard to offer the best solution to their specific needs are the key elements in customer service. He is known for his attentive listening and clear communication with clients. 

Rocio Rodriguez.- Accountant

Rocio is a qualified accountant with a diploma in psychology and joined Konsilia in 2009. She has extensive experience in accounting and business administration and her precision and willingness to help are much appreciated by clients. Rocio speaks English and Spanish. 

Sandy Antizar.- Administrative Assistant

Sandy, a Belgium national, has an extensive background of work for international companies, including Barclays. Sandy speaks Flemish, English, Spanish, French, German and Italian. 

Isabel Garcia

Isabel is a trainee accountant with Konsilia. 

Carmen Perez

Carmen obtained her LLB from the Universidad de Cadiz and has a passion for litigation and tax. She joined the firm in 2009 and speaks English and Spanish. 

Leticia Moran

Leticia obtained her LLB and Business Administration degree from the Universidad Pablo de Olavide in Sevilla. She has worked for the banking sector and her main interest is international tax. She speaks English and Spanish. 

Carlos Macias – IT manager

Carlos is the wizard behind Konsilia’s IT, a cloud computing oriented system. His skills make it possible for us to work virtually anywhere, while complying with Spanish and US standards of data protection and security. Carlos is a partner in Telnet, one of the main IT services providers on the Costa del Sol.
