History

The original Practice of Leon del Canto 

Leon Jose del Canto established in 1981 his Bufete de Abogados in Jerez de la Frontera. His original partners were Antonio Fernandez, currently a Counselor in the Junta de Andalucia Government, Manuel Gutierrez Maireles, a Spanish Army Official, and Alfonso Villa, who currently manages his own Firm. Leon Jose retired from his legal practice in 2008 and his son, Leon Fernando del Canto continues with the family legal tradition.

Leon Fernando del Canto, mentored by his father, studied Law in the Facultad de Derecho de Jerez de la Frontera and while completing his degree he worked for the Spanish Universal Exhibition EXPO'92 in Sevilla and three years in New York working for a non for profit foundation.  After returning from New York, Fernando was called to the Bar with the Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Jerez de la Frontera in 1999 and moved to England to further qualify as Tax Counsel.

In Southampton, England, Fernando joined the OMB department at KPMG initially and moved to Deloitte Private Clients as Senior Associate. He passed his UK tax exams and developed his main expertise working in very complex files involving international tax advice to High Net Worth Individuals and corporate restructuring. 

During his stay in England Fernando joined Michael Coyle, Solicitor and Advocate, and Izaz Ali, Solicitor, and together created Lawdit Ltd in Southampton. Today Lawdit is a well-established Solicitors Firm in Southampton and they continue working together on Anglo-Spanish matters. 

In 2006, Fernando was called to the Bar with The Honorable Society of Lincoln’s Inn in London and passed his admission interview with David Goldberg QC, a senior Queen Counsel specialized in Tax.

After a decade of private practice in Spain and the UK, Fernando consolidated his international tax legal practice in 2007 under the name Konsilia and joined The Leading Edge Alliance. The original partners in Konsilia were Manuel Gutierrez and Manuel Gonzalez, who left the Firm in 2009 and manages his own local practice. 


Fernando is now based in Konsilia's Sotogrande office in Spain and travels to England and the United States regularly to visit clients.


Manuel Gutierrez, Economista, begun working with Fernando in 2006 as Accounting and Tax Director and became a partner in Konsilia in 2007. Today Manuel is the partner in charge of the Accounting department.


Jose Manuel Diaz, Abogado, studied Law with Fernando and has been working with him in several projects since then. Jose Manuel joined Konsilia in 2007 and is currently the partner in charge of the Legal department.
